Our history

GP Arts Inc. was established in 2008 as a not-for-profit community group. The Golden Plains Shire is located in the south of Victoria, Australia, stretching from Ballarat in the north to Geelong in the south. 

Our purpose

GP Arts aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all abilities can come together to explore, enjoy and express themselves through art. We encourage creativity, the sharing of ideas and the discovery of new techniques and perspectives. Our group values connection, inspiration and mutual support as we learn from each other and celebrate the joy of making art. We connect with other groups and the wider community through demonstrations, social outings, studio visits and from time to time exhibitions, sharing our creative journeys and showcasing the diverse talents and stories within the group.
  • Bannockburn Art Group. A low cost well attended weekly art group aimed at friendly social interaction for all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome, whether you are just starting out or an established practicing artist.
  • The Golden Plains Arts Trail initiative originated in 2008 and brought art lovers and artists of all kinds together over a single weekend via a series of open artist studios and community venues, for viewings, gatherings and everything else to do with art.

We welcome new members of all ages and skill levels. Join us either as a GP Arts Inc member or GP Arts affiliated organisation member.

Our 2025/26 Committee includes a number of new positions, enabling us to run regular events, build a stronger online presence and keep both GP Arts members and members of the wider community informed of creative, skill development and social opportunities available across the region.
